Texas A&M Maritime Academy Residence Hall Construction Update - October 18

October 18, 2024

Good afternoon,

Thank you to everyone who attended last week's Texas A&M Maritime Academy Residence Hall (TAMMAH) Construction project briefing. Since we met, I have received and reviewed the contractor’s final report and have a few additional details to share.

Based on the report, we will execute this project in three phases. While weather may affect our timeline, we expect to extend into the spring semester and beyond. We will keep you updated on the project's progress until it is completed.

The first phase, which involved removing water-impacted materials and partially restoring rooms with new flooring, is complete, except in cases where students opted to delay installation until winter break. Due to the challenges associated with phase one, we are providing a one-time refund of $825 to students currently residing in the Texas A&M Maritime Academy Residence Hall. The credit should be applied no later than Oct. 25.

The second phase is getting underway and includes a temporary measure to seal the building exterior. We plan to move forward with the third and final phase – permanent interior and exterior restoration – as soon as next summer.

We have created a project status webpage for you to stay up to date, connect with campus resources and share your feedback.

You will continue to receive regular communications from me. I encourage you to share this communication with your support network so they can sign up to receive regular email updates, too.

We appreciate your choice to be here and will continue to work on minimizing the disruptions this project has caused.
