Did you know that cadets from the Texas A&M Maritime Academy at Texas A&M University Galveston Campus go on to become among the highest paid graduates from any Texas college or university? It is not unusual for young graduates to take six-figure jobs right out of school, especially when oil prices are high and there is a lot of exploration in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp recently visited the campus to talk about a new certification program that students are scrambling to get into. They are learning all about something called “dynamic positioning,” which uses computers and data to maintain the position and heading of ships or semi-submersible drilling platforms.
