Texas A&M University at Galveston officials are closely monitoring the possible formation of a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico.
At this time, campus will remain open for regular business on Wednesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 11.
Decisions regarding the status of campus for Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 14 will be made on Thursday, July 11 in consultation with the National Weather Service and local emergency management. Should forecasted conditions change additional updates and information will be provided.
The Texas A&M Maritime Academy’s Summer Sea Term aboard the T/S Golden Bear remains unaffected by this development. The ship is currently traveling well south of the forming tropical depression and will remain out of its path for its duration. The T/S Golden Bear is currently scheduled to dock in Ponce, Puerto Rico on Thursday, July 11. As with all marine-based activities, this date is subject to last minute changes and/or cancellations due to any number of variables.
Campus officials are preparing for all possibilities, and are in regular communications with local emergency managers and the National Weather Service. As always, our top priority is the safety of our students, faculty and staff.
Please continue to monitor www.tamug.edu for additional information. Updates will also be provided via the campus’ social media channels and the Sea Aggie Alert system.
