We know the many challenges Aggies may face concerning hurricanes, storms and tropical weather and due to the outpouring of support from the larger Aggie community, we have partnered with the Texas A&M Foundation to channel donations to help our students who have been impacted by these extreme weather events.
Donations to the TAMUG Hurricane Relief Fund will be used to help our Aggie community. Gifts will help support immediate needs, such as housing, food, clothing, transportation and other needed services.
Funds will be dedicated to providing scholarships to current, returning and potential students from the impacted counties who have continued their education at Texas A&M University-Galveston, stopped-out/withdrawn, or have delayed pursuing their education.
To be eligible for such assistance, the student (graduate or undergraduate) must fulfill one or more of the following requirements:
- Be a current student impacted by adverse weather and enrolled at Texas A&M-Galveston
- Be a student who dropped-out/withdrew from Texas A&M-Galveston as a result of adverse weather and has not yet subsequently re-enrolled
- Be a student who was admitted to Texas A&M-Galveston beginning in the fall 2020 semester but did not attend due to the effects of adverse weather
Academically speaking, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for undergraduates; 3.0 for graduate and doctoral students.
Funds are to be used for tuition and fees, textbooks and supplies, room and board and general living expenses.
The amount of aid per student will be determined on the basis of need. Scholarship and aid awards will be based on the need presented by the student and tempered by other needs present in the university.
The beneficiaries targeted in this program will be:
- Currently enrolled Texas A&M-Galveston students impacted by adverse weather
- Students who stopped-out/withdrew from Texas A&M-Galveston as a result of a weather-related event and have not yet subsequently re-enrolled
- Students who were admitted at Texas A&M-Galveston for the fall 2020 semester but did not attend due to the effects of an adverse weather event.
